Walking Daily With Jesus
The Pandemic continues. How are you doing? Our number in WV has risen to 39, at the last count I heard. But just remember, God is in control! As I talk to people, face to face [at a 6' distance though], and on the phone, it is obvious that people are worried, scared and even in a panic state. We're human so we do worry and we should be greatly concerned and take every precaution we can to protect ourselves. But a time such as this is a true revealer of the level of our faith and trust in the Lord! So take a good look at yourself and perhaps see where you are in your faith and trust in the Lord. Let's do as Solomon wrote in the Proverbs, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths". 3:5-6 I have been focusing my reading time on the Psalms. God gives us such great encouragement and instruction in the Psalms. One passage that stood out to me this week was Psalm 31, 1-2: In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defense to save me. May God who dwells in eternity come near to us and bless our life daily with His presence! May the Lord tender our hearts to sing His praises throughout every day!
Remember that all services here at Calvary have been canceled. We'll have a time of worship again on Sunday and every Sunday till this thing passes, at 11 AM on our Website, Calvarybaptistchapmanville.org. It will also be on Facebook as well.
I cannot express strong enough the need to stay in God's Word every day! The same hold true concerning your prayer life. Now, in time of great need, we need to seek the face of God!
Once again, if you are in need or know someone who is in need please call me. We have several folks poised to jump into action when needed.
Praying for you daily!

Walking Daily With Jesus
Driving my car the other day, I found myself singing, as I usually do. "And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own..." That will surly bless your heart! What a blessing and encouragement to know that our Savior walks and talks with us all along the way. Even when things are going wrong, He is still there! You know how sometimes a verse or passage of God's Word kind of stands out to you? Well, Psalm 27 has been in my mind and heart for some time now. "The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Wow! How blessed we are to have a loving Savior who is our light, our salvation and the strength of our very life! If historians are correct, David wrote this as he ran from Saul who was trying to kill him. I love David's conclusion from this truth: "Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?" Perhaps this is where the song writer from many years ago got his inspiration as he wrote "He's got the whole world in His hands..... He's got you and me brother in His hand..." No matter what comes our way, even the coronavirus, He's got us! Safe in His hands! We might wonder, how could David come to such an astounding conclusion of faith? I believe the answer is found in verse 4: "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple". You see, David had a strong love for the Lord which enabled David to make the Lord the very focus of his life! David walked with the Lord, daily! He experienced the Lord, he trusted the Lord! May we all walk the way that David walked, with the Lord.
March will be a busy month for CBC.
Choir practice each Sunday evening after our Bible Study.
VBS planning meeting on the 15th after the morning service.
Ladies Meeting and Men's Fellowship on the 17th
Every Wednesday at noon, the ladies meet to quilt. Also there is AWANA and Bible Study
Back Pack of food delivered on each Thursday. Also we've added 5 more to the list.
Youth Meeting on the 7th and the 21st
Finally, a new Ladies Bible Study on Fridays at 10 AM on Psalm 23
Lots to do, lots to be involved in and lots of ways to minister to people in the name of the Lord. A new project our Ladies are doing that is such a blessing is that they are making "Pillow Case Dresses", which will be sent to the mission field to be given to young girls. There is a team of Medical Missionaries going from a sister Church in Princeton who are going to take these dresses to Guatemala. Praise the Lord and Ladies, God bless you for your efforts to minister in the name of the Lord!
One more thought: I want to encourage each of you who have been absent for a while, to join us this and every Sunday to worship the Lord together. We miss you! May David's desire become your desire: "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple". I hope to see you Sunday.
God Bless

Walking Daily With Jesus
Well, here we are in a "blog"! What in the world is a "blog"? Looking to the dictionary, I discovered a lot. An online dictionary defined a blog as "a website containing a writer's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites". Wow! Well this is exactly what I want to accomplish in this blog. Our computers and internet have become powerful tools concerning communications. I hope to inform you about the happenings at Calvary Baptist Church, to relay to you future events at CBC, to share from God's Word and prayerfully to encourage you in your walk of faith.
Here is a thought about where we have been as a Church in the past several weeks. We have had a wonderful Christmas season! I believe we have honored our Savior during the time we celebrated His birth. We have worshipped Him well. We have celebrated Him with music. We have behaved like the Savior as we have given to many in several ways. What a joy to minister to people in the name of the Lord! And in all the activities of the Christmas season, we have had a deep appreciation of exactly what God has done for us in giving us His Son. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! May God help each of us to carry the joy of Christmas throughout the entire year ahead.
Now, concerning the year ahead: Here we are in a new year and a new decade. Amazing! What is truly amazing are the opportunities we have before us in the days ahead. What will we do for the Lord in this new decade? Hey, what will we do for Him tomorrow? May I point out two very special things we can do to enrich our relationship with the Lord? Prayer! Increase your interaction with God, daily. Not only ask God for things but to allow God to communicate to you! Secondly, Bible reading. May I encourage you to be in God's Word every day. His Word is one of the primary ways that God communicates to us. As Hebrews 4:12 says, God's Word is alive and powerful! It is our spiritual nutrition and we must have it to grow in the Lord. So may I also encourage you to read God's Word more than you ever have before. See what a difference it will make in every part of your life. I want to give you a Scripture I believe will bless your heart today: Psalm 103:1-2, "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits". God has blessed us all so very much! May we never forget all that He had done! Bless His name! Praise Him continually!
Ladies, don't forget that next Tuesday, Jan 21, will be the next meeting of the Ladies of Calvary. It starts at 6:30 and this month the Ladies will be electing new officers.
Gentlemen, don't forget that while the Ladies are having their meeting, we will meet at the "Hacienda" across from Lowes. We'll meet about 6:45. All men of CBC are invited to enjoy the food and fellowship.
I hope to see you this and every Sunday this year.
God Bless. Pastor John...
